Sony has confirmed a holiday release for the PSP2 aka NGP (Next Generation Portable). I was in awe at the hardware capabilities during their live demonstration video. What really struck me the most was the "almost identical" PS3 graphics it will offer. During the demonstration they were playing Uncharted Drake (PSP2 Version) and it looked exactly as playing it on a PS3. This little portable machine is like a PS3 on the GO!
Sony confirmed many of the features of the PSP2 that we've already heard in the form of leaks, rumor and speculation. The PSP2 features a high-resolution, touch-sensitive OLED screen that's larger than the original PSP screen, tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, dual analog sticks, front and back-facing cameras, and a touch sensitive back panel.
The device features built-in WiFi and 3G wireless connectivity. Sony boasts that the new PlayStation Portable is as powerful as a PlayStation 3.
For now, Sony is officially calling the new PlayStation Portable by its codename, Next Generation Portable or NGP. It will be out this holiday.
The Specs:
CPU: Confirmed ARM® Cortex™-A9 core (4 core)
GPU: SGX543MP4+Display: 5 inch OLED with 960 x 544 resolution
Wireless: WiFi, 3G, GPS
Inputs: Touchscreen, touch sensitive back panel, D-pad, L/R shoulder buttons, standard PlayStation buttons
The Games
Sony showcased a handful of games alongside the reveal of the new PSP, including new titles Little Deviants and Gravity Daze, plus games based on the following PlayStation franchises.
Uncharted
Killzone
WipeOut
Resistance
LittleBigPlanet
Hustle Kings
Hot Shots Golf

Not really big on handhelds.
Specs look good though
this will support LBP?
I'm in.
I will defiantly be buying the NGP when it is released.
I've heard rumors that the price tag is some where around $400, but even then it is still worth it.
Followed.
The specs look beast.. but then what about the PSP phone? Hmm..
Looks nice. Too bad I won't be able to use it as a phone.
Can't wait for this thing. It was awesome when it was the PSP 1... 5 years of technological improvements behind it will be bomb.
I'm just so sour on Sony these days. I need to get me a Windows Phone, that's the portable I want!
I just don't see how practical this is, waste of money IMO.
